Beyond the metal-insulator transition in polymer electrolyte gated polymer field-effect transistors.
We have studied the carrier transport in poly(2,5-bis(3-tetradecylthiophen-2-yl)thieno[3,2-b]thiophene) field-effect transistors (FETs) at very high field-induced carrier densities (10(15) cm(-2)) using a polymer electrolyte as gate and gate dielectric. At room temperature, we find high current densities, 2 x 10(6) A/cm(2), and high metallic conductivities, 10(4) S/cm, in the FET channel; at 4....
متن کاملPolymer Electrolyte-Gated Carbon Nanotube Field-Effect Transistor
Single-walled carbon nanotube field-effect transistors were fabricated using solid electrolyte (PEO plus LiClO4) as gating materials. The SWNT FETs demonstrated strong gate-channel coupling with improved device characteristics compared with back-gated devices. More importantly, the nanotubes can be easily doped using different concentrations of electron acceptor mixed in the polymer materials. ...
متن کاملElectrolyte-Gated Graphene Field-Effect Transistors: Modeling
This work presents a model for electrolyte-gated graphene field-effect transistors (EGFETs) that incorporates the effects of the double layer capacitance and the quantum capacitance of graphene. The model is validated through experimental graphene EGFETs, which were fabricated and measured to provide experimental data and extract graphene EGFET parameters such as mobility, minimum carrier conce...
متن کاملContact effects in polymer field-effect transistors
Contact resistances often contribute significantly to the overall device resistance in organic field-effect transistors (OFETs). Understanding charge injection at the metal-organic interface is critical to optimizing OFET device performance. We have performed a series of experiments using bottom-contact poly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT) OFETs in the shallow channel limit to examine the injection pr...
متن کاملPhospholipid film in electrolyte-gated organic field-effect transistors
A totally innovative electrolyte-gated field effect transistor, embedding a phospholipid film at the interface between the organic semiconductor and the gating solution, is described. The electronic properties of OFETs including a phospholipid film are studied in both pure water and in an electrolyte solution and compared to those of an OFET with the organic semiconductor directly in contact wi...
